According to Ayurveda, the human body has three doshas – the Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These doshas are responsible for one’s physical, mental, emotional and psychological health. While these doshas are prominent in everybody, the ratio of the three vary from person to person. Don’t worry, though, we have a list of some very effective Ayurvedic remedies to help you balance your doshas!

Now, during this time of the year (mid March to mid May), primarily called the Spring season, is the Kapha season; it is when this dosha is the most dominant in the body.

In this article, we’ll be discussing all things Kapha! Let’s dive deeper into the characteristics, strengths, weaknesses of the Kapha Dosha and treatments for the same.

Kapha dosha is mainly based on earth and water elements. The physical qualities of this dosha are steady, stable, slow and heavy. The mental strengths of the Kapha dosha are empathy, care, trust, patience, wisdom, calmness, etc.

During this season, when the Kapha dosha is dominant, one may experience some health concerns like a reduced appetite, lethargy, low immunity, allergic asthma, conjunctivitis and also various skin diseases.

While one may experience all of these symptoms or even just a few of them, there are several Ayurvedic remedies to help you through the season and balance the high Kapha dosha as well. You must follow a specific regime for your diet and overal lifestyle choices to manage the dominance of this dosha in your body.

Here are some dietary and lifestyle dos and don’ts to tackle the Kapha dosha:

  • Grains like barley and jowar to keep your diet light with their low-calorific values.
