Fungal Infections
Fungal skin infections can be itchy and annoying but barely serious. Common infections such as athlete’s foot, jock itch, and ringworm are caused by fungus and are easy to get and pass around. These typically infect the top layer of the skin on your body, scalp, groin, or feet.
Types:
Tinea Versicolor
Also known as Pityriasis Versicolor, it is a fungal infection of the top layer of the skin.
Jock Itch
It is a fungal infection of the skin in the groin.
Athlete’s Foot
This is a common fungal infection of the feet. There are different types of athlete’s foot infections, but the most common one occurs in between the toes.
Ringworm
This is a common fungal infection of the skin and has symptoms like itching and a noticeable rash. The rash consists of scaly, red patches or bumps that gradually turn into the shape of circles.
Fungal Nail Infection
A fungal nail infection is caused by a fungal infection in the part of the toe that makes the nail. As the nail grows out, it becomes brittle, thickens, and separates from the nail bed.
Thrush
Thrush is a yeast infection inside the mouth.
Intertrigo
Intertrigo is a yeast infection that occurs in skin folds. Intertrigo most commonly occurs in the armpits, in the groin, and under breasts or fat folds.
