Chlorophyll is not just good for plants, it has a host of benefits for the human body as well. Lately the topic of discussion has been the usage of liquid chlorophyll in the effective treatment of Acne. The internet has seen a flurry of videos where celebs and influencers alike mix the liquid into their water and consume it.
While Chlorophyll has excellent anti-inflammatory properties which could definitely soothe redness and it has antioxidant power which helps fight free radicals that account for breakouts; it might not prove effective enough on more stubborn forms of acne. Hence, the jury is still out on liquid chlorophyll curing acne. However research shows that some of its many benefits include:
- Reduction of inflammation and bacterial growth, in fact several healing ointments do contain Chlorophyllin.
- Topical application of Chlorophyllin has also proven to treat sun damaged skin.
- Improves the quality of red blood cells, which build the blood
- It is also a natural antioxidant and helps in detoxification
- Minimises the risk of Cancer
- It is a natural deodorant
How can you consume Chlorophyll?
The best way to get your dose of Chlorophyll is to include vegetables and greens as part of your diet. Wheat grass, spinach, green beans, peas, leeks and arugula are rich in Chlorophyll. Bear in mind that vegetables that are green inside and outside have a higher Chlorophyll content than vegetables that are just green on the outside like broccoli for example.
Chlorophyll supplements come in an array of forms, from tablets to powders and ointments. In a liquid form, people mix it into food; powders are mixed into juices or sauces. However, please consult a Dermatologist before starting yourself off on a course as dosages vary based on your specific needs.
