Skin
Vitiligo
Vitiligo or leukoderma is an autoimmune skin disorder in which patients develop white spots or patches primarily on the skin and sometimes experience loss of colour from the hair and eyeballs. These spots / patches occur when the pigment cells called melanocytes are destroyed and can no longer produce the pigment – melanin.
Symptoms
- Patchy loss of skin color
- Premature whitening or graying of the hair on your scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows, or beard
- Loss of color in the tissues that line the inside of your mouth and nose
